Privacy Policy for Plotika

Last updated: 23 September 2026 · Applies to the Plotika mobile app on iOS and Android (live.plotly.app)

Plotika is a language-learning app built around short stories. This policy explains what information the app collects, why it is collected, who it is shared with, and the choices you have. It applies to the Plotika mobile app and any related services we operate.

Plotika is operated by Nikhil Biju ("we", "us"). If you have any question about this policy, contact us at nikhilbiju67@gmail.com.

The short version. We collect the account details you sign in with, your learning progress, your subscription status, and basic device and usage analytics. We do not sell your personal data. We do not record audio, track your location, or read your contacts or photo library. You can delete your account and data at any time.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account you sign in with Google, Apple, or GitHub. We receive from that provider your name, email address, and profile picture where available, plus a unique identifier for your account. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we only ever receive Apple's private relay address. We never receive or store your password for these providers.

Learning content and progress

To make the app work across your devices we store the activity you generate inside it:

Subscription and purchase information

Paid subscriptions are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play, and managed for us by RevenueCat. We receive your subscription status, plan, purchase and renewal dates, and an anonymous purchase identifier. We never receive or store your credit card, debit card or banking details — those stay with Apple or Google.

Device and usage information

We and our analytics providers automatically collect:

Notifications

If you allow notifications, we store a push token for your device so we can send learning reminders and updates. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.

Photos

If you choose to save a wallpaper or an image from the app, we ask for permission to add that image to your photo library. This access is write-only: the app saves the file you asked it to save and does not read, scan or upload the contents of your photo library.

What we do not collect. Plotika does not record or transmit microphone audio — speech and text-to-speech playback are generated on your device. We do not collect precise GPS location, your contacts, your calendar, your messages, your files, or your health data.

2. How we use your information

3. Legal bases for processing (EEA and UK users)

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of a contract for account, sync and subscription features; legitimate interests for security, fraud prevention and basic product analytics; consent for push notifications and for advertising or tracking identifiers, which you can withdraw at any time; and legal obligation where we must retain records such as transaction data.

4. Who we share information with

We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with data brokers. We share the minimum necessary with the service providers that run parts of the app:

ProviderPurposeData involved
Supabase Database, authentication and content hosting Account details, learning progress, saved content
Google / Apple / GitHub Sign-in and app distribution Name, email, profile photo, account identifier
RevenueCat Subscription management and receipt validation Purchase identifier, subscription status, device and app info
Mixpanel Product analytics Pseudonymous user ID, in-app events, device and app info
Meta Platforms Advertising measurement and attribution App events, device and advertising identifiers (iOS: only with your permission)

We may also disclose information if required by law, to enforce our terms, to protect the rights and safety of our users, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets — in which case we will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different policy.

5. Tracking and advertising choices

On iOS, Plotika asks for your permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt before using your device's advertising identifier for attribution or measurement. If you decline, the app continues to work fully and we do not use that identifier. You can change your choice at any time under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID under Settings → Google → Ads.

6. Data retention

We keep your account and learning data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete the associated personal data from our systems within 30 days, except where we must retain limited records — for example transaction and tax records — for as long as the law requires. Aggregated or anonymised statistics that can no longer identify you may be kept indefinitely.

7. Your rights and how to delete your account

You can access, correct, export or delete your personal information at any time. Depending on where you live you may also have the right to object to or restrict processing, to withdraw consent, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Deleting your account. Open Plotika and go to Profile → Settings → Delete account, or use our account deletion page, or email nikhilbiju67@gmail.com from the address associated with your account with the subject "Delete my account". Your account and personal data will be deleted within 30 days. Deleting your account does not automatically cancel a subscription — cancel that in the App Store or Google Play.

We will never discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

8. Children's privacy

Plotika is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. Security

Data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections and stored with our hosting provider using encryption at rest. Authentication tokens are held in the secure keychain or keystore on your device, and access to production data is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information and will notify you and the relevant authorities of a breach where the law requires it.

10. International data transfers

Our providers may process and store data in countries other than yours, including the United States. Where personal data is transferred out of the EEA or UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the current version, and we will notify you in the app about material changes before they take effect.
